You may apply for one or both of the bursaries through this form. A description of the available bursaries is included below:
Tahltan-GCMC Bursaries
Eight bursaries are available to Tahltan students enrolled in university degree or college diploma programs. The available bursaries include:
2 x $2,500
2 x $2,000
4 x $1,000
Eight bursaries are available to Tahltan students enrolled in trades, post-secondary certificate courses, or Dogwood Diplomas. The available bursaries include:
8 x $1,000
Bursaries are awarded based on the following criteria: academic category, community involvement, financial need, and career goals. While bursaries are not limited to programs directly related to mining or communities, preference may be given to applicants whose career goals align with the mining industry or the needs of Tahltan communities.
Ann M. Ball Bursary
Galore Creek awards one $5,000 Ann M. Ball Bursary annually. This bursary was established in honour of Ann Ball’s contributions to the Galore Creek Project, the mining industry, and the Tahltan Nation.
This award supports Tahltan students who are emerging or active leaders in their community, are pursuing post-secondary education, and are committed to giving back to their community and Nation.
Note: Recipients of the Ann M. Ball Bursary are not eligible for an additional GCMC–Tahltan Bursary.

This application includes four pages. You will be asked to respond to:
- 3 multiple-choice questions
- 2–3 long-answer questions about your community involvement, career goals, and leadership experience
- A file upload for your proof of enrollment
Application Evaluation
Bursary applications are reviewed by a Scoring Committee composed of Galore Creek employees, industry representatives, and Tahltan partners. Personal statements and evaluations submitted by applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Personal Summary of Leadership Goals/Experience or Career Goals
- Personal Summary of Educational Program
- Personal Summary of Community Involvement
- Personal Evaluation of Financial Need
- Proof of Tahltan Membership
- Proof of Post-Secondary Enrollment
Students can apply to both the Tahltan-GCMC Bursary and the Ann M Ball Bursary. If a student wins two bursaries, only the higher value bursary will be awarded.
